Assignment 3 Task 1-3 Feedback,Conclusion and Evidence
Conclusion
In conclusion my advert was successful in meeting the brief because
the advert looks like it is aimed at a youth audience, uses interactive
features such as the share button and twitter hashtag and uses recognisable
persuasive techniques such as Unique selling point, Celebrity endorsement and
slogans. My advert was also successful because it followed basic banner
conventions. For example my advert was the appropriate size for a banner advert.
Another thing that made my advert so successful was the font and colour scheme i
used. I used a red and black colour scheme to make the main image stand out. I
used this specific colour scheme because it was the same colour scheme as the
beats by dre brand. I also used the clipping mask feature on Photoshop to make
the main image look more appealing. Although my advert was successful, i did
however use copyright material which breaks ASA regulations. If i were to
improve the advert i would use copyright-free images and carry out more
research.

Assignment 2 Task 4: Codes of Advertising
Codes of Advertising
The recognition of marketing code has a set of rules that make sure that advertising material is clearly recognised as marketing communications. The code states that marketing communications must be obviously recognised as such. The code also states that marketing communications must not and cannot falsely claim that the marketer is acting as a consumer, and that marketing communications must make clear their commercial intent, if it is not obvious from the context that they are providing.
Most of the rules and codes set by CAP and BCAP apply to youth advertisement. For example the Gambling and Children code all in some way or another apply to youth advertisement. The Gambling code states that gambling adverts should protect teenagers and younger children from being influenced, harmed or exploited by gambling. The Children code says that adverts aimed at a younger audience, should be appropriate for that particular audience and adverts aimed at teenagers should be appropriate for the viewing of teenagers.
My Banner Advert does not breach any of these regulations because it is advertising headphones,it is truthful and it is not encouraging illegal behaviour.
Recognition of marketing
Recognition of marketing is one of the
many codes and regulations that CAP(Committee of advertising practice) and BCAP
(Broadcast Committee
of advertising practice) have written to maintain standards and
to protect consumers from misleading
marketing.
The
Advert below is advertising Haig Club Whisky. The advert shows the well-known
football player David Beckham having a drink with a couple of friends while
chatting about everyday life. Although this particular advert did not breach
the Recognition of marketing code, It did however breach the Alcohol code. The
code clearly states that "Marketing communications for alcoholic drinks
should not be targeted at people under 18 and should not imply, condone or
encourage immoderate, irresponsible or anti-social drinking". The advert
was banned because it used a well-known celebrity, who at the time was very
popular among teenagers and young children to promote a alcoholic beverage. The
advert suggested that drinking alcohol with friends would lead to social success
and acceptance within social groups. The advert was seen as appealing to under
18s because Haig Club whiskey made David Beckham look "cool" and
"successful".
