Task 1- New Media and Old Media (Sectors Platforms and consumption) comparison

New Media and Old Media

Old media adverts are more general and are aimed at nearly everyone, they do not interact with the comsumer. Old media adverts are found in the moving image sector and publishing sector. The advert below is an example of a old media advert. It is a TV advert from the moving image sector, which is advertising the latest operating system from microsoft.
New Media adverts are often found on devices such as mobile phones and can also be found online. They allow consumers to interact with them. Adverts such as pop-ups are examples of new media adverts.

New Media adverts tend to target the specific interests of an indivisual. For example the facebook page advert below is advertisting a product or service which the comsumer is interested in. Because the consumer has interacted with facebook, facebook knows what the comsumer likes. This is one of the most noticable differences between new media and old media. Another difference between new media and old media is that old media is non digital while new media is digital.
